Because of the connotations of the term ordinary in English, many people think that Ordinary Time refers to the parts of the Church year that are unimportant, those parts not included in the major seasons (Advent, Christmas, Lent and Easter). However, Ordinary Time is called "ordinary" simply because weeks are numbered. The Latin word ordinalis refers to numbers in a series, stemming from the Latin word ordo, from which the English word order arises. Thus, Ordinary Time is the ordered life of the Church.
Mission Based Communities (MBC) gather individuals together in community with a mission to be the Gospel in action. The MBCs are open to all community members! We encourage you to pray and seek for what you can offer and start doing it.
