In response to the community's desire to have an electronic way to financially support the mission of the Newman Center Catholic Community at UCSD, the Stewardship and Finance committees are pleased to introduce ParishPay. At www.parishpay.com you may easily (in less than three minutes) set up electronic payment for your church offering. Monthly, but not weekly, donations are possible, as are one time donations to specific causes.
A note on responsible computing:
Before considering entering any sensitive personal information through a computer, ensure the following:
-You are accessing the site on an internet connection you trust. It is not preferable to use a connection that is public (such as free wireless) or belongs to someone else. Your traffic and information you transmit may be monitored. A wired connection is preferable over a wireless connection. If you use wireless, make sure it is encrypted.
-Make sure the address is correct and shows that the connection is secure. Signs of a secure connection are "https://" and the padlock as seen above. Websites that look legitimate but do not match these criteria may be illegitimate and steal your personal information. These sites are known as "phishing" sites.
-If you believe your computer is compromised by a virus or malware don't use it to enter personal information. Disconnect it from the internet and find a friend who can help check and clean it up and teach how to avoid the problem again.
-When you create a password, keep it secret and avoid writing it down (or at least don't keep the password near the computer).
-ParishPay will never contact you for your information; you will always initiate the contact.
This is also part of good stewardship --responsible computing and safeguarding your personal information and the personal information of others.
