Social Justice Commitee

Tijuana Housebuilding

The Social Justice Committee has a three-fold purpose: to raise awareness among themselves and within the community about justice issues; to plan and coordinate actions for justice; to empower the community to further the ongoing conversion of social structures to Gospel values.

The Social Justice Committee helps organize:

  • Storefront Homeless Teen Center and St. Vincent de Paul Center meals
  • Monthly tithes to organizations involved in social justice and community service
  • Donations of items for service organizations helping those in need
  • Two by two service possibilities on and off campus, including: Habitat for Humanity, Ocean Beach Saturday breakfasts for the homeless, beach clean-ups, Branch Ministry Saturday lunches for the homeless, Catholic Worker Friday lunches, and fundraisers (walks, runs, etc.) for social justice causes.
  • Quarterly social justice awareness events
  • Service weekends

Note that the Tijuana Housebuilding Project is on indefinite hiatus due to safety concerns for all those involved.
