I feel blessed tofr-c-hightower-sj be joining the UCSD Newman community as Director this coming July. I look forward continuing the work and service started by the Paulists and Dominicans at Newman.

A native of the Pacific Northwest, I am also returning to the Golden State after an earlier three years in Sacramento. My most recent apostolic mission was with Jesuit Refugee Service in Erbil, Iraq.

Joining the Society of Jesus in 1994, I have been fortunate to teach, coach, administrate, and minister at multiple levels of parochial schools across the country and at the university level at Gonzaga; parish work includes St. Aloysius Parish in Spokane, WA. and St. Ignatius Loyola Parish in Sacramento. I hold degrees from Seattle University, Gonzaga, and Boston College (Weston).

A general sports nut, I still play competitive soccer (yes, I will have to find a new team in San Diego!) and run both half and full marathons. I am hoping with the San Diego weather that I will be able to make a return to water sports.

Blessings. I am looking forward to meeting the Newman and Good Sam communities and serving alongside you in these coming years.

C. Hightower, SJ
