Jeanie Davis, Chair, Resident Community

Jeanie DavisMy name is Jeanie and I am a new resident member for the Newman Pastoral Council for 2008-2010. Being part of this community for the past 3 years has been deeply spiritually moving. I attended Christmas Mass here and felt the call to become a part of this community. It has been a joy to lector during the past two years. What I appreciate about the Catholic community at the Newman Center is the vibrancy of the students, the warmth of the community and the focus on centering our lives on what really matters, our Christian values.

After graduating from Our Lady of Peace in San Diego, my college years were spent at the University of San Francisco and San Diego State. I graduated in Speech Pathology and Audiology, but never worked in that field. But my fondness for special education never left. During the past years I have run two businesses – one in interior design and the other in property management. Currently, I am a small business owner and work with families in the East San Diego area. My mission is a passionate one - providing affordable, clean, drug and gang free housing the working poor in San Diego.

My husband Ted is Lutheran and we try to attend each other’s services on Sundays. My children (6) are all grown now, and are simply amazing people. Luckily, we are blessed now by welcoming Grandbabies into this world. In my free time I love to walk, ski, exercise in the water, crochet, bike, read and play with the darling grandbabies.

For 25 years I was an active part of the Good Shepherd Church and community working in liturgy, coaching volleyball, and sponsoring the founding of Good Shepherd Catholic school with an inspiring group of individuals. With this as a foundation I hope to foster and develop a deeper intergenerational community spirit between the student, young adult and resident communities here at the Newman Center. I look forward to serving you and representing your ideas.
