Hello! My name is Mike and I'm serving as one of the Young Adult and Graduate Student (YAG) representatives on the Pastoral Council. I am a PhD student in computer science with a focus on distributed systems and data center networks ( if you understood that, we should chat =D )
I'm originally from Marin, which is just north of San Francisco, across the golden gate. I attended the California Institute of Technology, or Caltech, and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in computer science in 2009. I started my PhD program at UCSD in the summer of 2009 with my awesome research advisor Prof. Amin Vahdat.
In my copious free time I enjoy driving, watching TV and movies, and goofing around with friends. I'm a huge fan of electronic dance music, especially trance, house, and progressive.
I joined the Newman Center pretty much as soon as I got to UCSD. This community has been an integral part of my life in San Diego, providing much needed wisdom, comfort and insight. I really don't think I'd be where I am without you all. I'm honored to be able to give back to this amazing community through my service on the council.
