Mission

We are students, alumni, faculty and staff at UCSD, as well as young adults and residents of the surrounding area who celebrate life together as the Catholic Community at UCSD.

We feel at home in this community and are free to experience Christ's presence in the Word, in the Eucharist and in each other. Hospitality and welcome are hallmarks of our community.

We are passionate about living the Gospel in the context of our Catholic faith. To us this means living in unity, embracing diversity, extending our boundaries and responding to the needs of others with compassion and vigor. We gladly share our varied backgrounds, resources and experiences to support and encourage each other in times of struggle and personal challenge.

We love to think. We encourage and invite open, creative and prophetic dialogue within our community, with other faith communities, and with the University about issues and challenges that face our Church and our world. We seek to integrate our faith and our scholarly endeavors.

We model and nurture servant leadership, stewardship, education and faith development that will enhance the life of the Church at the parish level wherever our students go. Most importantly, our mission is to build the reign of God, bringing light and peace to the world. We are called to act justly, to love tenderly and to walk humbly with our God.

The Dominican Fathers minister to the Catholic Community at UCSD, which was founded by the Paulist Fathers at the invitation of the Diocese of San Diego in 1966.
