Director’s Message

Letter to the Community

Dear Community, I have some sad and difficult news to share with you. For the last several years, the Western Dominican Province has been doing some long term planning. One of the main challenges we face is the gradually dwindling number of friars, making it hard for us to carry on our communal life of prayer and ministry. Last weekend, our provincial council decided that we will leave San Diego, including the ministry here at UCSD, at the end of June.

Newman Monthly Value

Celebrating the Sacraments

January’s Newman value is Celebrating the Sacraments. Can you name the seven sacraments? If you’re like me, you might remember the ones that you’ve been through before (Baptism, Eucharist, Confirmation, Reconciliation) and the ones that are announced from time to time (Marriage and maybe Anointing of the Sick). The last Sacrament is Holy Orders.
