Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA)

Searching to Know More About God

Love and compassion lead to the ability to engage in honest intimacy with ourselves, other people, the world and God. They are central to most sacred traditions. The opening of the heart, the birth of compassion and love from within, is often the beginning of a deep spiritual life. From that initial awakening, it becomes essential to further develop these qualities throughout our lives.

Searching to know more about God…baptized Catholic but not confirmed? Not certain about what you believe? Contact Patty Stewart, Pastoral Associate for Faith Formation at Newman Center Catholic Community at UC San Diego, for an inquiry class…bring your questions, our RCIA team will seek answers with you. Begins mid-August 2016.

Baptism for Young Children

baptism

“Holy Baptism is the basis of the whole Christian life, the gateway to life in the Spirit (vitae spiritualis ianua), and the door which gives access to the other sacraments. Through Baptism we are freed from sin and reborn as sons of God; we become members of Christ, are incorporated into the Church and made sharers in her mission: ‘Baptism is the sacrament of regeneration through water in the word.'”
— Catechism of the Catholic Church #1213
