Moments come. Moments go: never staying, always fleeting… And Life is full of them.
It has been an honor to be a part of and serve the Catholic Community at UC San Diego. I have been a part of this community since I was a freshman at UCSD with the singing priests, student retreats, ministry fairs, ecumenical services, community potlucks, annual talent shows, and beautiful liturgies during and around the holy seasons. From the pre-Mass welcomes to full community blessings of cherished members, God truly blessed me with a wonderful trove of moments, experiences, and people.
But my favorite part of it all is the moment of community. That instant when people come together and become the body of Christ inside and outside the Newman Center. These moments are found while making blankets for migrants, singing around campfires post confession, serving with So Others or St. Vincent De Paul, when all gathered for the annual community photo, and with all knees bowed before the Blessed Sacrament.
All these moments were fleeting and indeed never stayed, yet they are remembered and cherished because of the people we love and the bond that we share.
I can say nothing else but thank you to the community, who have become my friends and family over the past few years. For the moments shared and memories forged. For company met and friendships built. For Christ I’ve met and seen in others.
Moments come and go. And Life is filled to the brim with them. Thank you for letting me share them with you.
