Fr. Joe’s Village

Serve breakfast, lunch, or dinner on Saturday, once a month, to those in need at Fr. Joe’s Village in downtown San Diego. There is an opportunity to sit down and eat with the guests. We carpool from the Newman Center and return about three hours later. Contact Rosy Vacchi.

Youth Emergency Shelter

Provide a dish or serve dinner on the first Sunday of the month at this teen shelter in Hillcrest. Contact Cindy Yun (Odd Months) or Brook Feerick (Even Months)

Rachel’s House

Rachel’s House is a Catholic Charities outreach to women. Teams take turns making dinner on the 1st and 3rd Fridays, leaving La Jolla at 4:30pm and returning about 7:00pm. Both women and men are invited to help. Contact Sally Anderson.

St. Andrew’s

Every fourth Tuesday, 5:00pm-7:00pm, prepare dinner at Good Sam then serve it at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Pacific Beach to 80-100 people in need. Each member of the team brings either the entrée, salad, rolls, or dessert (reimbursement for the entrée is available). Contact Shelley Rowland.

Community Christian Service Agency (CCSA)

We collect food for CCSA’s pantry and once a quarter help pack food bags for those in need. Contact Martha Odegaard.

 UC San Diego’s Little Food Pantry

The Newman Center collects food for the UCSD Little Food Pantry whose mission is to address the barriers regarding social stigma and accessibility that restricts some students from utilizing the food resources at UCSD. You can find a list of items to buy on the gray collection bin in the Church vestibule.
